In my adult life I have lived in many different places and constantly moving makes buying difficult, so renting instead of buying has been a necessity to me. This experience has given me some valuable insights into the type of people who work in the multi family industry, as well as the type of people who live on these properties. Laurel Walk is one of the smaller communities I have lived at over the years, numbering less than 100 apts. It is also not a newly constructed property, but this turns up the benefit of having larger rooms and floor plans than properties being built now. As far as management goes, I have yet to meet a more professional, dedicated manager in all the years I have rented. Because of the size of this property I know she is forced to work with very little assistance in the office, usually with one part time leasing agent, and the ones I've met shes' done better without. The maintainence department likewise is small, being one technician and one groundskeeper. I have watched her go through a number of each, not because she is too difficult to work with, but because she wants only the best to serve the residents and demands a high level of competency from her employees. It is also my experience that those residents here who would give a less than favorable review of this complex, as indeed most of the other complexes I have lived at, do so because they have a personal gripe with the manager, most usually about not being able to pay their rent, or being discovered having illegal occupants, not picking up after their dogs, or expecting to hang out at the pool all night " because they pay rent here ". In summation, if you are seeking an apartment in the South Charlotte area I would strongly urge you to check this community out, unless you are what I have just described. If you are I wouldn't want you as a neighbor, and you would not enjoy it here anyway....
