Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004

I've been at these apartments for a year and about five months now, and I never seen as much crime here in last few months than I ever had seen before. I was a victim of my apartment getting broken in. I was very blessed of not being home at the time. I'm really don't feel safe here anymore. I'm expecting a baby and it gets worse because I work second shift and I have to come home around 12am to find strange young men walking the parking lots in dark clothes. It always seem like the security man be out at the wrong times, and he catches the wrong crimes, like loud music, and residents outside instead of the ones who don't live here. There is a new landlord here and alot has changed.
I am able to get out of my lease because I don't feel safe over here, but at the same time I was missed informed. When the break-in happened, I was told that I needed to pay July rent(which was due) and one extra month which would be August. It shows in the police report that my money and other personal belongings were taken which set me back, but I came up with both months rent. In the process I found somewhere else to stay and my move-in date is set for Sept.1st. When I went in the office to sign the Accordance Act, everything was switched around and I now had to come up with another month's rent. I was totally missed informed and now I don't know what step to take next because it's not fair that I came up with August rent and now she's stating that I had to pay an extra month's rent(September), when from the time of the break-in, August was my extra months rent because I was ready to move out as soon as it happened but I was told I had to pay the two months rent July and August.
I didn't have any problems with this area, but now buisnesses are getting robbed, people are getting robbed at gun point, cars are getting stolen and broken into, apartments getting broken into. It's just not safe over here anymore.
I understand crime is everywhere but what's going on over here is just ridiculous.
