Generally, I like the apartment complex.

I stopped by the leasing office at The Marquis at Carmel Commons last week to check the availability and prices for the 1-bedroom A2 units. Here is my take:

General remarks:
. I had a positive experience with all the leasing office staff. I was friendly and professional in interacting with them and they treated me the same way. I don't know if that would change after a person moves in, but I would give them the benefit of the doubt just to be fair.
. Very convenient location. Close to I-485, to Carmel Road, to the Fire Station, to the Post Office, to the Goodwill donation truck, to Caribou Coffee, to Pineville and lots of shopping and dinning places on Hwy 51.
. The property is well kept. Clean grounds, etc.
. I have visited the complex numerous times and I like the quality of tenants I spoke to and saw there.

As far as the unit itself, I loved the large size walk-in closet in the bedroom which is even larger on 2nd and 3rd floors. The windows are large and provide ample of sunlight. The storage closet on the balcony is okay in size and the utility room is larger than average. However, there were many things that I did not like. For example, the living room is 209 square feet in size but will be much smaller if it included a fireplace. The dining room was too tiny, only 69.7 Square feet and it was made worst by enclosing it with the hallway wall leading to the bedroom. Also, the bathroom did not have a linen closet and looked outdated, not to mention that the Burba carpet extended to the middle of the bathroom floor (Who came up with that idea'). The bedroom was small, only 160 Square feet and the fact that it had a large window that came a foot and a half above the floor meant that it would not be suited to use that large space for a dresser or an armoire. By the way, the dark shaded Burba carpet does not look good in these apartments.

On my visit, the 1-Bedroom A2 was going for $720.00 after the $75.00 concession. I would not pay a dollar over that amount for this unit at the Marquis and certainly not a dollar over $650.00 in most areas of Charlotte. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
