Very Pleased with My Decision to Move Here

I spent an enormous amount of time researching apartments in Charlotte. I chose Carmel Commons because it was very nice, a bit more family friendly than others, and the customer service reviews were far higher than most others. When I read reviews about the people being snotty at the front desk, it makes me wonder what attitude the renter walked in with. I'm always very friendly to people, and that's usually what I get back. The girls in the office know my name, and call me by it, even though I don't know all of their names. I've never once been given attitude.
Pro's
The management leaves you alone and I don't feel like there are a ton of silly rules. I don't get pestered about anything. The apartments are spacious and beautiful. I have a 25 foot wrap around balcony on mine and my bedroom is 15 x 15 with a huge walk-in closet, which is not bad for an apartment. I really like my bathroom. I have a seperate shower and a large garden tub. It's quite a large bathroom. I walk at night and have never had any problems. If you like to socialize the complex throws a half dozen or so get togethers on special occassions with free food and drink. Most of the people living here appear to be professionals, like myself, so it's quiet. There are never people carousing about the grounds.
Cons
If you hate dogs this isn't the place for you. Many people own them here. I haven't had any issues, and actually the dog that barks it's head off is in the apartment complex across the street in Carmel Valley. How much you enjoy your living experience is always going to depend on how considerate your neighbors are. That's a bit of a crap shoot, but that's apartment living anywhere. I can't think of anything else that I would say is a con. I really like it here all around.
I haven't experienced moving out yet, so I can't speak to that. I've lived here 11 months and plan to renew my lease because I feel safe here, and love my apartment.

read your review...may I ask what other complex you looked at? I've been doing research for days and it's exhausting. I haven't lived in an apartment for 15 years (owned homes) so I want to make the right decision.

I looked at Post Ballantyne, Atkins Circle, Springs at Tyvola Center, and researched about a dozen other properties in total that I never went to look at because of various reviews I read that scared me off. I had an Excel spreadsheet that I had entered all the properties into to assist my decision. I put columns for things such as security dep., lease term options, square footage, rent, room sizes, etc. Then I based my decision on what looked best for me. Good luck!
