I lived at Piper Station from November 2000 until mid 2003. Everything seemed fine until I renewed my lease in 2002 and then everything went down hill. It seemed that the neighbors above me (who seemed to change every 6 months) were always a family of stampeeding elephants. I understand that you will hear some noise but this was absurd! It did not matter what day or time (even at 1am) all you would hear was the loud bass of someone dribbling a basketball upstairs or a screaming, running and jumping person above you. I called the police several times in the middle of the night to get the neighbors above me to stop RUNNING around their apartment. The apartment staff were slow moving in a situation when a neighbor was using a charcoal grill on the 3rd floor deck! Not only is that a Fire hazard (and against the law) but the hot melted charcoal spilled through the 2nd floor wooden deck and onto the 1st floor as well. It was an extremely dangerous situation and it took them more than 48 hours to respond due to it happening over the weekend. People on the third floor would take bags of trash (literally from the trash can) and throw them over the deck to be picked up hours if not days later. After several complaints about this it seemed to stop but started again right before I moved. Children in the area were unsupervised and would color with markers over the vinyl siding of the building. If the lights burnt out you would report them and wait a few days for the bulbs to be changed out! What amazed me the most was that I was living in PIPER GLEN and this was the type of development and poor management at this location. Last year the problems really got worse when they started to offer HUGE discounted specials for people to move in. Rent was cut way down in order to fill the vacancies and the quality of the tenants and the staff went down hill. Overall I would not recommend Piper Station to anyone. The only thing it has going for it is location. When I finally had enough and opened my eyes I was pleasantly surpised to find a nice safe haven in Charlotte. Someplace that resonds to Issues within 24 hours and a well built development where I can not even hear the neighbors above me....even when I try.

While I lived there several cars were broken into, stolen, CD's taken, stereos gone...even letters were sent to the Residents warning them of such break ins. I appreciated the notice but as one police officer told me, They do NOT recommend living in Piper Station for many reasons. Car theft and noise ordinance was one of them. My advise is to speak with a LONG TERM resident and the local Police Department before you decide where you want to sign a lease.
