The ghetto

I lived at this apartment complex from 1983 to 1985. Back then it was one of the best places in Charlotte. Banks, Eckerd's, restaurants, Harris Teeter, you name it, it was there. I pass by this complex every day on my way to work and feel sad how this area have become. Over the past couple of years I drove thru the complex to look at my old apartment next to the creek. Sad. The area looks like a ghetto. None of the businesses in the neighborhood are left. I believe the only ones who are willing to risk getting robbed are the dry cleaners and a Jewish Kosher grocery store. Too much crime. All you have to do is drive thru the complex during the day and see for yourself.

I totally disagree with this review. I also lived here in the late 70's and returned 2 1/2 years ago. The apartments are well-built and spacious. Maintenance has been prompt, capable and timely. There is crime everywhere in Charlotte. This complex is full of decent people. Look down on us if you wish to, but this is my home and I really like it here. I do wish the shopping center was still active, it's a waste of prime real estate in my opinion. But, as I said before, this place is my home and I enjoy living here. If it pains you so to see the place, perhaps you should take a different route. I take these anonymous complaints with a grain of salt. ;)

Reply to drwalley1- After I posted the above review, I had the opportunity to stop by the apartment complex not long ago and talk to residents in this apartment complex. I learned that things have improved over the past year. I also checked the interior of the apartments and I agree they're nice and very spacious. I understand this is your your home and neighborhood and in no way was my intent to talk bad about anyone's home. As a matter of fact, I recommended the complex to my girlfriend after I had the opportunity to visit the complex, look at the interior of the apartments and talk to residents. We decided against it after a rep from the leasing office did not honor the quoted rental rate. Yes, it would be great if the businesses return to the neighborhood. Hope this clears thing.
