You are EXACTLY right!!! I lived at Reddman's Pier (Apt #A10) and moved out due to horrible circumstances in 2007. I'd just had my son about 3 months before moving out. We had a two bedroom and my fiance was there to help me take care of our son b/c he was born with some complications. He shared a room with our six year old daughter at the time. Our apartment was the very last apartment in the complex facing the back alley right behind Chucky Cheese, Dollar Tree, etc. The only thing separating this alley from our apartment is a fence. Well EVERY weekend people would drive their cars in the back alley, play loud music, congregate, party, and then shoot their guns firing about twenty rounds at a time. This particular weekend that made me finally pack up and leave...it was Saturday morning at approximately @ 2:00 a.m. There were a round of about twenty-two shots fired (my fiance counted). Then about 15 seconds later...another round of about fifteen shots fired. Then there was another round of about seven shots fired. We heard people screaming so loudly outside. Luckily my six year old was at her grandmother's for the weekend and I'd just placed my newborn's crib in my bedroom that day so he was in my room at that time. My fiance got up and told us to get down on the floor and away from the windows. We heard cars screeching their tires speeding away, lots of screaming and crying, and then in our hall we heard people gradually coming outside once the coast was clear. Our neighbor's boyfriend (whose apartment was right beside mine) ran out screaming, "She's been shot...They shot her...they shot her!" Let me just say that all of us in that building called 911. IT TOOK FOREVER FOR POLICE, MEDIC, AND FIRE TO ARRIVE...FOREVER! My apartment is the one facing the alley (really my children's bedroom). The bullet went through the wall and into my neighbor's apartment (whose apartment isn't even facing the alley) and hit her while she was in bed sleeping. She got hit in the abdomen. She was taken to the hospital and stayed about two days. After that her parents came and moved her out. The next day, my fiance and I rented a uhaul and moved everything out. Get this...we told management we were leaving after everything that happened, not to mention the sorry maintenance, and theft that goes on there. She simply told us that if we leave she was still going to charge us for the remaining rent on the lease for the remaining months and that it would go on our credit. Once she finished...this lady had over $2,000 worth of damages. I am still trying to fight to get this off of my credit. It is still hard to rent anything decent for my family right now. Please do not move to this complex if you value your safety and life. I apologize for this message being so lengthy and drawn out, but I really want people to know what they will be getting themselves into and not to be fooled by the move-in specials like I was.
