Springs at Tyvola Centre formerly Archstone Tyvola Centre

I've lived in this complex since 2005 and haven't had any serious problems with it. I find both the layout of the community and those of the apartment units themselves to be extremely modern and first rate. The grounds and landscape are well maintained. The apartment floor plans are spacious and make smart use of their square footage. The small, but comfortable computer alcove in my two-bedroom is a notably well executed design. Some kitchen appliances however, are a bit bargain basement-ish for the "luxury" billing that this complex tags itself with.
Rumors of crime problems are quite prevalent among some residents, but I have neither seen or experienced them personally. There is however, a noticeable lack of any security presence. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that the drop-down arm portion of security gates are frequently broken or otherwise out of commission, and it is often several days before they are repaired. The faux wrought iron gates at the front entrance are painfully slow-moving, but are generally reliable. I find the parking to be good, but not great, though some of the spaces are kind of tight. I would rate the maintenance team to be about average.
The constantly increasing rent is beginning to seem a bit high given the slight regression of the surrounding neighborhood, but it is not out of line with similar nearby complexes. Excellent access to I-77 and 485, as well as the soon to be opened light rail system are a plus. Fairly close proximity to the Uptown and South Park areas are also decent perks.
Though reasonably efficient, the office staff tends to emit an unwarranted heir of arrogance. While this may be construed as "chic" at a Myers Park or Ballentyne location, in Southwest Charlotte where this complex is located, it more often than not comes across as being rude and uninviting.
If the Springs at Tyvola Centre were located in one of Charlotte's higher end locales, given it's general appearance and healthy list of amenities, it could easily and successfully demand rental rates at $1000 and up. Problem is that it's not, and its office staff may need to be reminded of this fact. This may have a lot to do with the overall 57% rating that it receives on this site, which it's management should view as being alarmingly low for a complex of this caliber.
