Avoid the Area-Becoming A Nightmare/Unsafe

Well where do I begin. I have lived here for 8 months and I cannot wait to get out. They maintain the grounds nicely, and the complex appears attractive, but this is where it ends. My neighbor?s door was kicked in one evening at 6pm while his wife was home. Many residents were home. If they are that bold to do something like that, this ought to tell you something. They are beginning to let anyone move in and now kids are running around all over the place. Don?t get me wrong, kids are okay, but it is the wanna bee young hoodlums that are starting to appear around the complex that has me concerned. The proximity to Eastland Mall does not help either. The Albemarle Rd/Farmpond Lane drug corridor is extremely close by, and you can hear gunshots rattle off routinely on a Friday or Saturday night. Just recently, the police helicopters hover over in the evenings and I am beginning to wonder if I am in the middle of Compton, Los Angeles or Watts. OK, maybe not Watts, but "watt?s next"' I had no idea that East Charlotte is becoming such a ghetto and a dump. I would not recommend any apartment complex in East Charlotte to anyone. My neighbors who had their door kicked in moved out in a week and broke their lease. In their opinion, their safety was more important that legalese. I am contemplating the same. I wonder if they are starting to let Section 8 in' Why has Charlotte become such an urban dump' These apartments are too pricey for the area, and I guess they charge a higher price to attract a higher class of urban dweller. I moved from out of state blindly and fell for it. Don't you. I want out. If you really want to live here, maybe you can have my unit. Lord knows it will be vacant soon. You can do better. Do not settle.
