I stopped earlier this week by the Leasing Office at Stone Ridge to check out availability and prices.
Pros: . I was helped by a leasing consultant named Amanda. She was really, really sweet. She answered all my questions, had a very positive attitude, gave 100% effort in making the sales pitch. I was very impressed with her people skills and paid her a compliment to that effect.
. As far as the 1-bedroom apartment itself, there wasn't anyhing I did not like about it. I love the fact that the utility/washer and dryer room is the largest I have seen in any apartment complex in Charlotte.
. As far as the complex itself, it's approximately 5 years old. The grounds look very well kept.
. The apartment complex is close to I-485, Super Wal-Mart, lots of shopping centers, restaurants, gas stations, etc.
Cons: . The area is not the best in Charlotte.
. Architecturally, the pool was very pretty, nicely planned, palm trees, etc. Unfortunately, the architects seem to have closely surrounded the pool by buildings on all side. The result will likely be that the pool will be shaded before 11:00 a.m. and after 3:00 p.m. in the Summer. What were they thinking about'
. The fitness room did not have dumbells which is a bummer.
. The maximum Lease Term that they offer is 12 months. What's up with that' I guess that's a 5% increase in monthly rent for those who are happy residents and want to live there longer than a year.
. 90% of the current resident I saw in the parking lot, in cars, at the Leasing Office seemed nice but were all of the same race. How come'
. I saw a lot of teenage boys almost everywhere I drove thru the property. I asked a couple of polite resident teenage boys whether they have heard of any problems at Stone Ridge. Both replied that not long ago, a teenager was evicted because he was reported or caught keying cars in the parking lot. I guess that could happen everywhere. Kids will be kids.
. The deal breaker was the sound from airplanes every two minutes passing overhead on their way to land at Charlotte Douglas airport. The two teenage boys I mentioned above confirmed to me that they can hear the noise from the airplanes at night even inside their apartments.
That is my opinion on Stone Ridge. You decide for yourself. g-hKOS7s4Nq5n3hEIpHd

interesting comment about the pool being in shade most of the day, I would have never thought about that myself, and I'm a big time pool user and prefer very warm 90 degree days with full sun otherwise I get cold. That's a shame because the reviews here sounded pretty good. If anyone here could advise what kind of sun you get at the pool during the daytime hours I'd like to know.

The pool runs east from the complex office west to the back apartments. There is plenty of room on the north side of the pool that will be in full sun all day long (I live on the north side of the pool, I have a very good view of the entire pool area). The south side is probably going to be shaded nearly all the time. I wouldn't call this a deal breaker at all.
