Reasonable place convenient to Uptown

I've only been here for 3 months but so far so good.
Pros:
- Conveniently located if you're commuting uptown
- Nice having some shops very nearby
- Quiet neighborhood with respectful neighbors
- Fairly responsive maintenance (They have responded in 1-3 days of my requests)
- Reasonable (albeit small) gym included
- Good sound-proofing (I'm in the older, largest townhome model)
Cons:
- Rent may be a bit more than average rent
- Some are older structures so you can get some bugs (roly polys and such -- no roaches in my experience)
- In-bed with Time Warner Cable -- virtually impossible to use DirecTV
- Trash collection areas are a bit sparse (but maybe that's standard for Charlotte)
- No big mailboxes -- anything larger than a standard envelope won't fit in the outbound slot
To be fair, if you were going to use Time Warner Cable, the $20 mandatory cable fee actually is worth about $45 in services so it's not that bad a deal.
They were up-front about that fee as they were about their plans to individually meter water (which has since happened -- good for conservation I guess).
The application fee is a bit of a rip-off compared to the standard security deposit.
I have my rent on auto-debit so I haven't had any run-ins with the management office as did a previous reviewer. Overall I find the "old ladies" in the office pleasant -- though maybe a bit too chatty. No harm.
