I've lived here almost a year, and I have had only one problem so far. I had a slight noise problem with a neighbor. It was just an annoyance, like twice a week talking very loud on the phone at 1 a.m.; I never approached him about it and I think he has moved out anyway.
I think my place is sort of a "bargain" as far as Charlotte apartments go. It's a 20-ish minute drive to my job uptown. For those of you from anywhere else in the world besides Charlotte, "uptown" means downtown here. There are bars within 10 minutes' drive. The apartments are in what seems to be a very safe area of Charlotte. I have gotten a few "oh, wow" responses when I tell coworkers I live in this area of Charlotte, because they are more familiar with the giant houses nearby. My area of the complex is always quiet, and my apartment was and still is in good shape. The Fairington is actually split into two large areas by Colony Road. I live in an area of the apartments that seems less densely populated than other areas, and I think this helps a lot with the above issues. There are always free parking spaces for me and any guests.
With that said there have been 1 or 2 break-in attempts (at least) since the 7-8 months I've been here. I mean in the whole complex, by the way. And there are a lot of units here. We were notified by flyers on everybody's doors.
The place seems to have a mix of old and young. Also have seen some families here.
The floorplan isn't the most exciting in the universe, but who cares. It has the rooms you need. The price per square foot is nothing compared to what you'd pay closer to uptown. I chose the option of not having washer/dryer connections. So in their place I have a huge kitchen pantry with shelving. There is on-site laundry. Washer/dryer hookups were roughly 30-40 dollars more per month if I remember right.
I have a friend in another city who lives in a Babcock and Brown (I think that's the name) property, and she could say all of the above about her place. Maybe try to check a B&B place out in your town if you can....maybe they are similar'
I have had minimal dealings with the office staff but in the 3 or 4 times I've needed their help they've been courteous. I am almost definitely going to renew for a 2nd year.
FYI there is not recycling at every dumpster. Maybe there are a couple central ones but I'm not sure.
That's all for now I will post again later if I have anything else to say.
