This is Piper Geln's ghetto.
I've lived here for almost a year and my lease is almost up!!! Yay!!! My roomate and I have had many complaints since day one and few of them have been addressed. The model apartment they have is by far nicer than the actual apartments. The sink in the kitchen is shallow and does not have a spray nozel, they are very drafty and cold/hot depending on outside temp. They are very noisy, I hear the people above me at all hours of the night, smell the guy under me when he's cooking, and hear various other people walking though the breeze ways. The carpets were old and stained/dirty when we moved in, I hope we don't get charged for that. It took the maintanance 3 tries to fix the only big eye on our out-dated stove, my roomate had to tell them how to fix it. We had to have them put weather strpping on all the outside doors for more insulation, which didn't help much. The roofing is coming off and landing in the grass... nice. We had to have our garage remote reprogramed b/c someone else's was opening our also, comforting when you value your things. We had them replace the batteries in both remotes, but one of them died the day after they were "replaced with new batteries". The grounds are filthy with ciggarette butts and other trash being thrown off of people's porches. The grounds keepers run the trash over with mowers instead of picking it up, so its still filthy, but in smaller bits. The problem with mosquitoes in the summer would keep you from spending time in the one redeeming quality of this apartment... big porches. If they used bigger or more fountains in the pond, there would be fewer mosquitos. The pond and various other places through out are littered with malt liquor bottles and philly blunt wrappers. There is a speeding issue on Bevington and inside the parking lot, making it dangerous to even walk the dog with out fear of being hit. Twice, we have had the police at our door to tell us to keep the "bass down" when there was no music at all in our apartment. The "business center" is constantly littered with unsupervised children on myspace for hours at a time. The workout room is unsanitary and probably has never seen a good cleaning. I would use it, but I'm afraid of pink-eye or something worse. We complained of people leaving trailers and abandoned cars/work trucks for days in some of the fewer closer parking spots, nothing was done. Parking is a huge issue, if you use the parking spaces farther out, you run the risk of being vandalized. There is always fresh glass in those parking spaces. We had a neighbor who left 3 overstuffed trash bags out in the breeze way for almost a week before a cat (or something else) got into it and there was food and other things all over the breeze way and stairs for at least 24 hours. The owner probably picked it up, not maintanance. Maintanance seems very friendly and smiles at you when they see you, but they are lazy, and one of them actually hit on me. We constantly hear sirens going to and coming from 485. Getting in and out of here in terrible in rush hour. I really don't feel as though I am safe here. More than once, we have been awakened in the middle of the night to the sound of 2 different guns going off along Bevington, right in front of our apartment! Soon after the gun shots, there was the sound of squeeling tires! Who should we complain to' Cops don't come out here for anything more than noise issues, and the office doesn't care. Twice since we've been here, the water has been off for more than 24 hours b/c of a "water main break". There are lights inside the breeze ways and through out the parking lot that are out/broken with yellow caution tape on them for months now. Whats the caution tape mean if not to remind you to fix them' "warning: dark corner!"
I've lived in many apartments before and have never had an issue with neightbors, mainanance, office staff, or safety. Here, it's been all three I have a problem with. I really wish I'd read the reviews on this place before moving in. We haven't moved out yet, I hope there aren't any more issues! Wish us luck... I think we'll need it.
