I am so excited to move out of the Fairways in the next month! I work in the apartment industry so I know what is good and what is bad...
Lets start with the staff. When I first came to check out the Fairways I was greeted by a snobby woman who wasn't the least bit pleasant until I told her I was serious about putting a security deposit down. She automatically assumed I couldn't afford to live there because I'm in my early 20s. I think it is hilarious because it now seems now they will let anyone in the place because you can see the dynamics chaning rapidly.
Next - location. Where my apartment is located in the complex is directly behind the Piper Glen Shopping Center where Trader Joe's is located. Because of the new store, the place is packed and car alarms are always heard at least once a night. Not to mention the garabage truck that comes every morning, including Saturday at 6:30am can easily wake a heavy sleeper up. Also, they are redoing a store and they work until 11PM sawing wood. I had to call 311 for the police to come stop them due to noise disturbance and thats not the only time I've had to call for that specific store. They must not care that there is an apartment complex less then 20 yards away!
The apartment itself is ok. I've had the A/C go out 3 times and the heat once. The units are at thier lifetime capacity and need new A/C units. Anytime I have had anything needing to be fixed, the staff is always quick to repair it and nice.
If you cannot stand hearing people walking around above you all the time - get a third floor apartment or you will go insane! At one point, there was a family with 2 teenagers and a large dog that were up at all hours of the night. I was woken up at 3AM once because they were up moving around and they dropped something, but it sounded like an anvil was going to come through the ceiling. Also, I do not understand why they allow families on the top floor, it makes everyone miserable underneath them! They would let the dog out onto the deck to bark at people for hours.
As I am almost to the end of my lease, I turned in my 2 month notice of vacating, so the woman gave me prorate for the month of June. I just wanted to get out of that office, so I took the card she handed me. This morning I did the math and she overquoted me by $33. The leasing agents deal with math all day... so I don't know how they could mess up a quote they do all the time. So if you still want to move into the Fairways at this point, make sure you double check thier math because I'm sure they wouldn't mind overcharging someone, but to me that is shady business.
