Great place to live.

This apartment complex is probably the best I have lived in since I've
been moving around.
I have never had to deal with the maintenance staff, but I do see them
out and about each day, and they are very friendly.
The office staff is fantastic from top to bottom. The manager knows
what she's doing and is very nice...and this extends to the other
staff as well. I feel like they've made a genuine effort to get to
know me, and I have returned the guesture. It's the primary reason I
renewed my lease for another year.
This place is very safe. I am reading on here about murders and the
like, and it just isn't true. You can look at each and every incident
report from the police department on their website, and there has
really never been anything serious anywhere NEAR this place. There
have been a few car break-ins, but that's par for the course in any
place where cars are parked in large numbers. That's why you have car
insurance...and that's why you keep valuables inside...not in your
car. Personally, I have never seen anyone just lingering, nor have I
seen anything suspicious. Likewise, I've never seen the police or any
law enforcement show up even for something minor.
The buildings themselves are quite nice, and the landscaping is well
maintained. Every few weeks, there is a crew out planting new
plants/trees/flowers, and the grass is always maintained. The
walkways and parking lots are extremely clean. The only downside to
the property itself is the trash situation. There's only one
dumpster, and it tends to pile up after a few days, but I have never
had a serious problem taking out my trash...the dumpster is big enough
to prevent a crisis situation.
The noise is minimal. I rarely hear my upstairs neighbors walking,
and I've never been woken up by noise. You have the occasional loud
neighbor, but they often don't realize they're so loud, and they have
always been apologetic. I've never had to involve the office.
Besides, the occasional noisy neighbor is just something you accept
when you live in an apartment. It's just the luck of the draw. I'm
sure I've dropped a book or done something that someone else heard,
but you just have to shrug it off. Like I said...it's never prevented
me from sleeping or going about my own business.
Parking depends on where you live. The closer you get to the
entrance, obviously, there is more competition for parking. The
spaces towards the back stay pretty open. The only time you have to
shark the lot is evenings over the weekend. However, the furthest
I've ever had to park is just a building away. It's honestly not a
big deal. If you're going to live or die on parking, you can get a
cheap covered reserved parking space right by your unit, or you can
get a garage that's even closer. Free parking is what it is...first
come, first serve. You can't blame the apartment management for
that...they definitely give you options.
I have never used the pool, but I walk by it often. There's almost
always at least one person in the pool, and people seem happy with it.
It's clean and the area around the pool is well maintained and free
of trash. They've provided plenty of chairs, umbrellas, and the like.
Likewise for the exercise center...a pretty nice selection of
equipment, and it's very well kept. The movie theatre is a great
addition, even at the price. However, if you get a few friends to
split it, it's a great option...after all, you're not going to pay the
price to watch a few movies by yourself...I hope.
The location in relation to the neighborhood is ideal. There is a 24
hour pharmacy and 24 hour grocery store within walking distance. You
can get to Interstate 77 in less than 10 minutes (including the brand
new mall), and you can be on Interstate 85 in less than five. There's
ample food and entertainment in a ten mile radius, but there does seem
to be a shortage of gas stations in this part of town in general.
(You kind of have to plan for this one. There is no gas station on
the way to/from I-85. There are a few on the way to/from I-77, but
they're usually horrendously busy at all hours. Failing that, the
closet one is about a mile away on the same street that runs in front
of the complex. Unfortunately, the grocery store on the corner
doesn't sell gas.)
But, if you want a bank, just throw a stone. There's a Sun Trust,
BB&T, Wachovia, and Bank of America right on the corner. There's also
a fantastic greenway (park) about a mile away that runs along a
creek...great for walking/jogging/biking/pets.
The prices on the apartments are reasonable. I feel like I'm getting
a lot of value out of my rent. All the units come with a washer and
dryer, which is extremely convenient and VERY hard to find in
Charlotte. The hot water heater is plenty big...I've never run out of
hot water in the shower.
All in all...it's safe, it's quiet, it's a great value, it's well
located, and the staff really does bend over backwards to help you
out. I would recommend this apartment to anyone...it's a great place
to live.
