Where do I begin...

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
We've been living at the Lodge since Summer of 2004 and I've had many ups and downs. Unfortunately more downs than ups. Lets begin with the stuck up chicken heads in the front office. First of all, I know one of them had to write the review from July 2006 b/c whoever wrote that review was either delirious (living in la-la land) or a big fat liar. The girls in the office are extremly rude, racist, and ignorant! As many times as I have came into the office to either pay rent, pick up a package, or to just ask a question they make no attempt to be pleasant or get to know me. Whoever did write the entry from July 2006 must be white b/c they never go out of their way to be polite to me (yes I am black).
My building is close the dumpster and I cringe at the thought of having guest over and them seeing the area where the dumpster sits. Its either spewing over with garbage or has one or two big couches or furniture pieces sitting in front of it.
The stairway and front walkway of our building is disgusting. You have solicitors constantly sticking things in our door and they are all over the place-on the steps and on the grounds. Even with phonebooks in front of vacant apartments; they will sit out their for months before someone finally throws it away. You get an array of spider webs, moths, bugs, garbage stains, etc. to view on your way up the stairs.
As with a lot of the other reviews I do not feel safe as well. Apparently, the "security guard" they hired was way too expensive for our apartment complex and we're not worth paying someone $900/week to protect us. (even though my rent for a two bedroom is $775/month!!!) I don't care if they thought it was a waste or not, if it helped the residents feel safe thats what matters the most. Last night I saw four guys try to break into a honda accord right in front of my balcony at 1:30 in the morning! Now they weren't the smartest bunch of dummies but I don't think that if they saw a security guard out front they would have attempted to get in. (Forturnately they didn't get in and I called the police) My point is I don't care if I have car insurance or not I should be able to park my car at my home and not worry about a couple of kids looking to score some cool c.d's. Like another resident said on their review-all Steven D. Bell and the workers in the front office care about is $Money$!!
For example my tiles in my kitchen were coming up (approximately 9 tiles). We called the front office to have them replaced. They replaced them alright, they replaced the ones that came up. So, now I have 9 beautiful sparkling tiles and about 9 old dirty ones. I asked one of the guys why wasn't the other ones replaced, he replied that they don't want to pay for the ones that aren't coming up but I'm more than welcomed to pay for it myself. For What!'! So I can sell it later and make a profit!! NO!! I shouldn't have to come out of pocket when I'm trying to improve on their property. Why should I be ashamed to have people see my kithcen floor when I pay my rent in full and on time every month! I feel like I live in the ghetto-I should just move to the eastside and save $300 for what I get at the Lodge!! A couple of weeks ago I asked them for some paint to freshen the walls. They said yeah you can have some but you have to suppy the brushes, pails, etc. I was completly floored!! These are some of the lasiest, cheapscape, people I have ever encountered. The maintenance guys are probably the best thing about the property. They have a quick response and are good with what they do. They tend to leave a mess though but I don't worry myself with that. I don't mind as long as they do a good job. You are not allowed to rent out the clubhouse (you can rent out the theater for an outrageous price). Every time we try to celebrate a birthday or have a 'get-together' instead of knocking on the door to ask us to keep it down someone calls 911 and have the police do it for them. I know what you're probably thinking, "Thats the woes of living in an apartment" but for $775/month I should have little to no 'woes'. I'm not in a situation to purchase a house but you bet your ass I've started to process to do so!
