I have lived here for just over a year now. Any problems I have encountered have been problems you would find at any apartment complex. The office and maintanace team/staff are friendly and do their best to fix a problem as prompt as possible in the order of most importance. I absolustly love the ameneties. They are well kept and there are so many of them offered. The area around the complex is only getting better, growing in size with new freeways and shopping centers, places of work ect.. I feel safe here, the noise level is minimal, higher in the summer, as to be expected. Plus I live by 2 families with smaller children. Theres diversity within the ages, and lifestyles of the people who live here which I think is important, and so far everyone is friendly.
I think that some of the negative reviews are over exagerated, but everyones entiltled to their opinions.
Crime in the area is really low, every once in awhile something will happen around the corner with the government funded housing but it hasn't "leaked" into this complex. I will say that there were some problems with the gate,which was really annoying but since they've gotten the camaras there - they have been really minimal.
Overall The Oaks is a great place to live, affordable, safe, in the middle of it all and dependable staff - I would recommend it.

Has definately declined since this was posted. The management does nothing to ensure safety of the residents! It's horrible! 3 series of car/garage break-ins in less than a month!
