Not The Place to live

Years at this apartment: 2005-01-01 - 2007-01-01
When I first moved into The Regency I thought they were great. The property manager was sweet as pie and did some really nice things for my family when we moved in. We moved there in December 2005. At that time my brother and my mother both had apartments there. Intially I had no complaints. Then things began to fall apart. For example, in the main bathroom the pipe exploded while my 7yr old son was taking a bath and dirty water began rushing into the tub while he was in it. Water sprayed all over and was coming through the wall. There was a pool of water in the whole bathroom and the carpet outside the bathroom was soaked. It was a disaster. The manager was prompt to respond however when the plumber came out all he could do was plug the leak. He told me the the pipe material was so old that he would need to order a part to fix it so the bathroom was unusable for about 2-3 weeks. To make matters worse the floor in the bathroom started to sink as if the floor was coroded. Everytime I walked in the bathroom I thought I was going to fall through the floor. Then a few weeks after that the water heater pipe sprung a leak and all of my belongings in that closet got soaked and somethings had to be thrown away. By this time the property was being taken over by a different management company.
Parking was horrible sometimes my husband and I had to park far away or park illegally or in the reserved spaces that they charged tenants to park in.
Having a 7yr old boy in that place was not heaven either. When I started letting him go outside to play and ride his bike or scooter, I had a note posted on my door stating that type of activity was not allowed. Kids can't ride bikes, skateboards, basically anything with wheels that normal kids do when they are outside. I let him ride anyway, because I was not going to keep my child couped up in the house.
All the while the place was continually going up on the rent and there were no improvements made to substantiate the increase. I got fed up and broke my lease to move to a more child friendly place that had more to offer and I have found that in Brookstone Apartments.
Before I moved out the old management was still in place. The property manager told me that she already had prospective tenants looking to move in at the same time I was planning to move out. Of course when the time for me to move came the apartment had not been re-rented and things were delayed due to the change in management. My apartment did not get re-rented until mid November. One of the new management staff members told me that no apartments were being shown when the change was still in process and then I was told that no one came in looking for an apartment. I don't know which is true but I really expected the place to be rented because the previous manager was sure that it would be.
As far as maintenance goes I think that the staff did the best with what they were working with. The guys were always pleasant and polite to me.
When the new company took over things really changed and not for the better. Equity Management was excellent but Drucker and Faulk definitely can not live up to the precedence that Equity set.
