The reviews of this property are what made me live here, I think they are biased. Here is my review.
Location: Not so hot. Is right next to very inexpensive townhomes and cheap apt. communities (that rent for $299 ). Lots of riff-raff walking on South Blvd. (which the community is very close to). Also cannot make a left into or out of the apt. community, which is a huge pain. However is very close to a lot of shopping and gas stations glore.
Gated: Not really. The gate that folks can walk through is usually open (is supposed to be locked). Car gates usually function, only had a few problems. However this isn't a gated community. The Lakes (read some of those reviews to get an idea of the folks living there) backs to this property and the fence that seperates the two ends at the end of our property and is open. So, any riff-raff there can easily walk into this property. I don't consider that gated, especially because the Lakes has a much lower cost/reputation. Luckily there haven't been any problems besides some noise issues.
Construction: Okay, however the apt.'s are showing their age a bit quickly. Drawers falling off hinges, racks falling down, shoddy rods in the showers, some outlets are crooked. You do hear noise from other apt's, especially if there are children. Typical for an apt., a little better than wood, but really depends on your neighborbors.
Maintance: Awesome! The maintance guy is great and fixes things right away and right the first time. Very friendly and trustworthy.
Residents: A LOT of college students or recently graduated college students. Only a very few older people and some professionals. A lot of traffic in and out on the weekends for such a small community.
Amenities: Nice clubhouse with small weightroom with a treadmill, bike, stairclimber and 3-4 weight machines. Really could use a circuit machine, but overall good. Pool is ok, not used much. Offer resident activities occassionally.
Apts: Very spacious and more like a home. Rooms are big and open. Lots of windows and they come with free vinyl blinds which is a HUGE cost savings. Foyer is great for taking off dirty shoes, walls have fresh paint and nice molding. Kitchen has nice new applicanes and full sized washer and dryer is a HUGE plus.
Overall: Just okay. The area is what will make us move out. Don't feel safe in the surrounding area. Rising gang crime in Charlotte area and think some of the communities around may not be too far off, including the one behind us. Wish the apt's. were closer to Park Rd. than South Blvd. as that would help with safety concerns. Having a gate that walkers use that really locks and suring up the gate between the two properties to make it impossible for The Lakes folks to get through would help. Would recommend for a short stay.
