In June of 2003, this apartment complex had a carbon monoxide poisoining. 16 people went to the hospital. I found out this information after I moved from New York to this apartment complex which was on October 5, 2003. If I had done my homework, I would have not given this place a second look. When I moved in, I noticed a lot of violations. The electric sockets were hanging out of the wall, and there was no smoke detector. I have two small children, this was not safe for them. The apartment had roaches, the 1/2 bathroom had dirty wallpaper and holes in the wall. There was a big hole in the kitchen counter. The patio had cigarette butts and trash left from the past tenants. The stove did not have a guide to determine the degrees for cooking. My food was burnt constantly, then the fridge broke down and my food got spoiled. The residential manager was lazy and did not want to do her job. Days turned into weeks and then into a month that I've waited for things to get repaired. Maintenance came in my apartment, looked at the stove and then took off. Finally, when I threatened the manager with court, I got another stove and refrigerator. This residential manager is not use to having people demand for proper service. She couldn't handle the responsibility, therefore, I was released from the lease.
