Report University Club to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission

University Club is an apartment complex owned by "The Preiss Company." The Preiss Company also owns adjacent University Village. The Preiss Company president is Donna P. Preiss and she is a real estate broker, licensed by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission. On your lease contract, look at it and you will see, "The Preiss Company" all over it.

Ive lived at University Club since 2006 and have an extremely low opinion of the management. They have done all kinds of things that have made my life difficult. Too many to list, fact. The worst was probably what happened this Fall 2009 semester...the U-Club management that the Preiss company delegates to handle things at "U-Club" put a new tenant in my unit who has a six year old living in his room every weekend. Thats right...a six year old kid in a place marketed to single undergraduate college students. U-Club is notorious for heavy partying and is no place for a six year old kid to be living, even part time.

I complained to Donna Tripp, the U-Village/U-Club apartment manager, and requested this new tenant be transferred to another unit. I didnt want to live with a fifth tenant on the weekends in a four person unit. I was immediately blown off by U-Club management. I also complained to the Preiss Company directly, which is based out of the Raleigh area...and never heard a single thing back from them.

And this is just ONE THING Ive experienced in the slightly over three years Ive been a tenant at University Club. Im not renewing my lease this year, Im getting the hell out of this place. In particular, its gotten really bad since Fall 2008. Since the economy got bad last Fall, Ive noticed a steady decline in what little quality U-Club management had. Not that it was ever good, but right now its just absolutely pathetic.

The Preiss Company is ----...they have no business being in the real estate business. They are sleazy.

Anyway, a lot of people living at U-Club or paying for their college student children might have major issues with University Club. I can tell you that what you really have a problem with, is "The Preiss Company," as they own...and have ultimate authority over...University Club.

If you have a serious complaint about University Club and hence, "The Preiss Company," one of the best...and most inexpensive things you can do for yourself is file a written complaint against the Preiss Company with the North Carolina Real Estate Commission. Send it in typed, certified mail with return receipt requested. Once the NCRESC gets enough complaints about the Preiss Company that they see a pattern, eventually the Preiss company will be forced to change their ways. Or sell U-Club or something.

Go here to download the NCREC complaint form in PDF, fill it out and mail it in. Lets fry the Preiss Company.
