It could be worse From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 7/5/2006 Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004   I lived at U walk in 2004 and had a decent time. I've read many reviews of this place and the other apartments around UNCC and there is one common theme from all of them: Ghetto. If you're going to have a 4K stereo in your car, why not spend the extra $500 on a security system. Or take the face plate off your deck. Don't leave money, dvds/cds, or M81Ipods laying out in your car! The simplest things can protect yourself. My playstation did get stolen (I lived on the bottom floor), but that could be accounted for one of my dumbass room mates leaving the patio door unlocked. When I lived there, there where two main maintance guys. One of the guys, Mike, was cool as hell and was always willing to help. The other guy wore some ugly Panama Jack hat and I would always catch him digging through the dumpster collecting cans. That was kind of gross. I will say this about the both of them, they seemed to mind there own business. Even though they have tendancies to just barge in your apartment to check things out, I was smoking a blunt one time and I kid you not they came in 40 seconds after I finnished it. I was scared that they were going to rat me out (they had to have smelled it) but they didnt. NEWSFLASH PEOPLE! UNCC and the apartments are surronded by the projects and lower class minorities. So always watch your back! Keep your ---- locked and don't be arrogant about your possessions. It's that simple people. And it's like that at every apartment around UNCC. The staff seemed nice but it's all smoke and mirrors. They will rob your ass just as quick as Jimmy Crackhead outside. They tried to charged my exgf $400 for breaking a desk that broke on itself as we moved her bedroom around. If you're like me though, you like to have a good time and meet new people (especially girls), then UWalk is a cool place. I recommend it but buyer beware.
