I lived at this apartment complex back in 1998, but I just stumbled upon this website recently, so I thought it was appropriate to write a review. I moved into this place in July 1998, and it was filthy and had a horrible smell, kinda like something burnt. After days of headaches and constant dry coughs, etc., we noticed an unusual amount of black debris coming from our ac/heat vents. So we kept cleaning it up for weeks on end, until finally we ran into a neighbor upstairs, who told us that our apartment was set ablaze a few months back.
I was severely pissed to say the least, so I went over to the apartment office to complain. The office manager was like, "oh yeah, we had a small mattress fire in the apartment, but it was cleaned up." So they agreed to have our ducts cleaned for us to see if that helped. Nonetheless, it did no good, so we pushed and pushed until we got out of our lease. The neighbor above me told me that 3 apartment units nearly burned down, and it was definitely not a 'small mattress fire.' Anyway, I threatened to sue and they let me out of the lease. Just use a little legal jargon and these wuzzies run for the hills. If you have a problem, they just want to get rid of you as quickly as possible.
So I left this burned out dump and went to the Springs at Steele Creek, and had even bigger problems. Go read my review on that joke, too.
Also, I went back to this apartment about 6 months after moving out, and I knocked on the door, and low and behold, the place still smelled of a foul burnt odor. I asked the current resident about it and they said they complained, but management did nothing. Well, I gave them the lowdown on my situation with the same unit, and they went over and bitched out the manager. Don't know what happened after that, but it did not surprise me that those idiots just slapped a new coat of paint on the place and then tried to pass it off to someone else. Damn scumbags!
