I moved into Waterford Square in July of 2006. I arranged everything 2 months in advance & the day of moving, I was called & told the apartment wasn't ready & I had to wait 5 days.
When I actually got to move in, two days later the AC went out on a day that was 98 degrees out. I call the apartment office at 5:55pm when I get home.. there response, we are about to close, you will have to call back tomorrow. I ask about the maintenance on call, there response.. we are busy. After numerous calls that day & going to the office with attitude from the staff.. it gets fixed. Then the AC dies again the next day. After gonig through the same issues.. AGAIN.. they fix it.
My apartment was broken into twice in Sept & Oct of 2006. I requested that I be moved to another apartment & pay the fees to which they said.. who ever is harrassing you will just find you anyways.. so why move' I had to pay to have my locks changed twice which is $25 each, they only take cash on that as well. Imagine that. My mail box is been broken into numerous times & when I complain.. there response.. pay for a new lock. Why.. so it can get broken into again'
My lease was up & due to work.. it was easier to move into the same apartment complex to a one bedroom. Big mistake on my part. I over heard in the leasing office a staff member offer the same style of apartment I was moving into for $535.00 per month.. when I requested that rate.. I was told that only applies to new residents.. not current ones. I rent that same apartment for $575.00/month. It took me going to the leasing office 6 times before I recieved any help on moving to a new apartment. I recently recieved a letter on the condition of my last apartment. I put down $600.00 deposit to only get back $20.00. I paid to have the apartment professionally cleaned & it was spotless - there response.. the apartment was trashed. I took pics of the apartment afterwards & they said that they would not accept that. So my advice... NEVER RENT HERE EVER!! I am actually looking to break my lease & move as soon as possible.

Take pictures, document everything in writing. Send every repair request in writing and make sure it is dated and very specific. My boyfriend lives here at Waterford and they are very lax about repairs. But, if you can prove that you made requests for repairs and provide police reports regarding the break-ins, you may sue them in court. Be informed of all of your rights as a tenant in North Carolina. If enough tenants take legal action, not just complaining on this website, Waterford will be forced to be responsible. Did you know that Waterford STILL advertises that they have 2 swimming pools and a Clubhouse? Everybody should take current pictures of the clubhouse and pool that was torched a year ago and mail them with letters to all the Apartment Guides and Magazines that Waterford advertises with. Waterford should not advertise amenities that residents have not been able to use for a YEAR! If Waterford is forced to take those pictures of the pool and clubhouse out of their ads, then you will see how fast a real construction crew is sent!
