I have posted on this site before-search for "Howard Crossing" apartments in Ellicott City, Maryland- you will see my negative review. I used to live here in 2005/2006 and really had no problems. But I can see it went down hill, big time. ** I do not work for this apartment complex in short**
I lived on the top floor, I could not live under another tenant, too much noise. I had the view of the High School field, which will tell you where I was within the apartment complex.
It was a two bed two bathroom apartment, it was huge! I shared it with my friend, both paid $315, so cheap. I now pay $1365/month for a smaller apartment in Maryland, be thankful you have cheap rent for a huge apartment! I miss the real south!
The main negative area's were the pools. The main one was nice, the other was awful! My apartment was right next to the smaller pool. I can remember every saturday in the summer seemed like some illegal immigrant pool party, so loud, I hated it. Other than that, the main pool area was nice.
The mailroom was another negative attribute of the complex, at least mine was. I do recall break-in's of the mailboxes and trash everywhere, very sketchy!
The parking was pretty rough, especially on Friday nights. The highschool football game was god awful. Students, parents, friends would park in our spots, even in the street! I couldn't wait for the end of the school year, our parking spots became more open but it was still hard to find a spot. Probably because the families of 20 in one apartment complex all had cars for each other but could not afford another rent fee!
The management was okay, never ran into a problem with them. I guess I was the lucky few, or ONE. With the staff and maintenance, no big issues.
As I mentioned earlier, the apartments were huge, I loved it! Maybe it is because I used to live in Cedar Trail Apartments, 1/3 of a mile away from Waterford, big change.
A few minor problems from my standpoint and era when I lived here. Good luck to the current tenants!
Regarding the breaking of a lease, come on now. Please read your lease as this is customary nationwide. If you break your lease, you need to pay, it's simple logic. If you are not going to continue your lease, give them notice in writing, again, simple.
