I hope people reading this find this to be interesting and informative. When I first moved to Wildwood in January of 2007, I thought the apartments were okay. I moved into a one bedroom apartment. The only complaints so far were maintenance issues, like my balcony did not have a screen door, the front door was broken, and I needed a new water heater. All, of these things (except the screen door) were fixed, within a timely manner. I thought the people in the office Jeff, Debbie and Terri were all pretty friendly and very accomadating. Even Don (the maintenance guy) seemed to be pretty friendly..maybe a little too friendly (especailly with his comments like, "well you can just spank me later"...but, he had a good spirit about him, nevertheless. After living in my one bedroom I decided to upgrade to the two bedroom after four months and once again my requests were meet and I was happy...But then that all changed. The building, that I moved too had roaches...yuck!!!! Not only that, but my neighbor had three children, whom she never watched. You could hear them playing right outside your door at 9am on a Saturday. Her kids were very messy and irritating. I still tried to be nice and help her out as much as possible. I tried to be nice to her friends...which were really not my cup of tea. Finally her and her friends got evicted (thank God) and had some peace!! The only real complaint I had last summer (2007), besides my crazy neighbors were once again maintenance issues. My air conditioning was not working properly. I called the office at least 20 times in regards to this maintenance request. I even saw the maintenance guys walking around aimlessly from the property..sometimes it seemed in a drunken stupor, and they would make promises to fix things, and these promises were never filled. I was later told by the office, that the maintenance is only allowed to fix things when a request has been made via the office...not via the parking lot. I was told repeatedly that there was nothing wrong with the AC because it was blowing cool air, but the apartment temp was not reflecting the temp on the thermostat. Finally, I called the property manager, and was told that there was nothing else that could be done to help with the AC except reseal the windows. So, I found and AC tech from the phone book and had them come look at the AC and see what the problem was. Well, they found the problem and I took the reciept, which was 100 bucks, to the office and demanded to be reimbursed and I wanted the repairs done immediately. It was done..with in two weeks I believe. I moved into the two bedroom, May of last year and my AC was not fixed until the end of August. So my children (7 and 4 at the time) and I were pretty miserable. Also, my toilet continued to leak and that took about three months to get it fixed. I had to leave a towel under the shut off knob to catch the water. Now that is gross and unsanitary. The maintenance man (James, who up and quit) literally had to break my toilet for the office to allow him to replace it with a brand new one. Well, I do have to say that I love my new toilet, and the AC works lovely. The moral of this story is, that sometimes you have to act like a hard ass to get anything...and that should not be the case. I should have not had to jump through flaming hoops for simple maintenance, which we are rent is paying for. Certain amentities, like AC and a toilet, I thought came with the apartment..so why I had to go what I went through just to recieve basic services is beyond me and quite a headache. The only other complaint I have now, well there is several...but unfortunately there is not really much the manangement can do about this...The gate (which majority of the time is broken) is a horrible thing to listen to every night, I hate hearing peoples loud ass music every night, people drive way to fast in the parking lot, people do not pick up their dog ----(which I have had the pleasure of stepping in on more then one occassion), somebody or something keeps urinating in the mail area (so most of the time the mail box area or "postal center" as the office would refer to it as, either smells of piss, or had piss in it, which my children and I have the pleasure of stepping around on a daily basis). The bottom line is the apartments would not be so bad if the appliances were not outdated, the only allowed certain kinds of people were allowed to move in (who were not mentally ill, on drugs, or sold drugs, and convicted felons (all of which I have had the pleasure of meeting), the place would be better if things were just kept up and not allowed to completely fall apart, before being replaced. The management is trying to make more of an effort (I guess). We did get new balconies, and the pool area is being remodeled. Some of the roofs are being replaced. We also have a new maintenance man- Billy. He is really nice, and he fixs your things the same day you put a request in instead of three months later. So, there has been some change.....but if I had to do it all over again, I think I would have looked for something a little newer, in a better area (where you did not hear gun shots, cuz yeah I have heard those too or seen the police around all the time (like in the summer, I have witnessed at least three fights. These apratments are good for people, who are single and are busy and the only thing they do here is eat and sleep. This is not a community that is for children, there isn't even a safe place for your kids to play. And there are just too many damn weirdos around here...I would love to put my 60 day noice in and leave before my lease is up, which isn't until the end of July, but I bet because I made such a big stink about the AC not working and the roaches, I am forced to stay in this god forsaken place another three months...Well if anyone reading this still decides to move in, best of luck. One more note...my rent has been paid before it is due and always on time, except for one month when the check was not mailed on time, even though it was dated for the first it was not recieved until the 6th. The next day, I still recieved a 114.00 late fee. That is pretty ------, being that the rent being late was not intentional and I have never caused any problems. This is how "good tenents" are treated...so future renters be aware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
