Awful experience! (Please read this...not trying to bash them but just telling the truth)

Fortunately I signed a 6 month lease with this property and even though my lease is not up until January 31st, my letter is already prepared and waiting to be given to the property. I have lived in Willow Ridge now for 3 weeks and this has been the worst decision I have ever made. I do have to put myself at fault for making the move to Willow Ridge. As I was looking for an apartment, I was out of town since I just had a baby and didn't get the chance to thoroughly check the whole community or get information from current residents of what they thought of the community. When I did my first walk through I already knew at that time I was not going to sign a 12 month lease as originally planned. The cabinets were looking as if they were going to fall apart and to be honest I didn't really want to stay there for a whole year. I wish now that I would have taken more time to look elsewhere but since my husband and I moved during the summer things were being leased pretty quickly and this was our last resort. Once I came in the office to sign a lease that is when I was informed of a bunch of dumb things that I had to abide by. There's a $30 community service fee that you pay w/your rent each month that is suppose to be for the upkeep of the pools, fitness center, tennis courts, etc. so tell me why all of the gym equip. doesn't work. (luckily, they didn't charge me for that) You'll be charged $5 everytime the community notices that your smoke detector isn't working which is ok to a certain extent but what about the situation when you're at work and your smoke detector starts beeping than b/c you need a new battery and maintenance comes in. You're still gonna have to pay. And also, they're starting to get a contract together for TWC where you have to pay a certain amount per month for standard cable even if you have satellite.

What topped the cake with this move was that since I've been here, I've noticed some of my outlets don't work, one of my eyes on the stove weren't working, it had to be replaced cause there was paint in it causing a awful odor, keys had to be replaced 5 times cause they weren't working with my lock, and recently I'm being invaded by bugs. The health department has been contacted and they will be doing an inspection of the apartment. With that said, I want you to carefully consider the pros and cons before you decide to rent with Willow Ridge. I have to admit that the property manager did get my initial issues resolved very quickly but she is also quick to make my husband and I pay the penalty for wanting to break the lease when the apartment is infested with bugs causing a huge threat to my newborn son.

If you have to move here (maybe your situation is like ours and you need a place last minute) please take my advice and sign the shortest lease you can. Doing a 6 month lease only adds $25 dollars extra a month to your rent and I'm more than willing to pay that extra to shorten my time at Willow Ridge Apartments. Make sure you give a proper 60 day notice cause if you don't your lease will automatically renew. Please try and ask other residents how they feel about the community. Everyone's not the same and some people love the property (due to some positive feedback they've given on this site) No, I'm not the trifling tenant who doesn't wanna pay rent and want to bash the property. I'm a good tenant and actually was approved to get the apartment with no deposit b/c of my positive rental history but you will get frustrated if you're paying a certain amount of rent per month and still feel unsafe. WSOC (a local televison station) has been contacted of this and I'm waiting to hear back from them to make my story heard via the television. No one should have to go through what my family has gone through and once this is aired and televised, it will make others aware of what really goes on at Willow Ridge Apartments. And if anyone who works at Willow Ridge is reading this, I know you know who I am but I don't care. The public needs to know. I really hope this review helps.

I am a happy resident of Willow Ridge. The staff has been helpful with my move-in. I just moved in to Willow Ridge and I like it so far. They were clear about the charges and the apartment. Negativity is a bad trait to have.

I don't know what you did to upset the staff, but calling people stupid is probably not the way to get them to take your issues seriously. I have lived at Willow Ridge for 6 months and love it! The staff is really nice to ME and my neighbors. I have lived in the south my whole life in beautiful places and never had one place be bug free. It's the south - there are water bugs or roaches as some people call them -everywhere! They offer free pest control here if you need it. Do you let your child play on the ground? How does he have contact with the bugs? Someone should maybe call DSS instead of the health department.

This is the original poster wanting to update you on what's been going on since the initial post...broke my lease and moved early! It was the best thing I could have ever done. I am fighting with Willow Ridge now b/c of me breaking my lease. I had to b/c they allowed my ex-husband to put his name on my lease w/o my permission or us redoing the lease. My ex started getting violent and I was forced to leave b/c the staff wouldn't allow his name to be taken off w/o us both signing: what sense does that make? We didn't both agree to put his name on the lease but we have to both agree to take his name off? Please think twice about making this your stay.
