Before trashing Willow Ridge, stay on this site and go look at the ratings for all the other apartment communities that are nearby. They rate just as bad if not lower than Willow.

Fact is, this community is NOT a home for patricians. The rent is very affordable given the area and what you get for the money in this part of Charlotte really is tough to beat. Your rent is deceptively low since you don't have to pay water, sewage, or trash and you get a washer/dryer in the unit for free. You can shower, wash dishes and clothes as much as you want without any additional cost to you. That's worth at least $65 a month.

Where I lived, I felt as safe as you can living in a multi-family housing complex. There are always going to be strangers coming and going. Don't blame the community for the kind of residents they let in: blame the Fair Housing laws which require landlords to rent to anyone who applies and qualifies.

Yes, the buildings are old but you deal with it and move on. A lot of people drive old cars that aren't very attractive or new relative to newer ones. And, for anyone who has actually done their research, Willow Ridge is one of the largest communities in Charlotte with 456 units. They have a huge property to maintain and, all told, they try very hard to keep it in good condition. Like any business, they are constrained by people who get indignant when the rent increases 3% year to year (like my neighbor did). Duh!

Bottom line: you don't get fancy appliances or electronic keys, but you get an exceptionally affordable place to live that (as long as you aren't a jerk to the staff) will live up to your needs, requests, and expectations.

(And I currently live here for those who are interested)

you obviously haven't lived here long enough. Lets see if your singing this same tune in a year. Nobody is looking for fancy gadgets, just a community that will take some pride in its appearance and take care of its residents
