The only reason we moved into Morgan Place was because my husbands job moved us here from SC and we didnt have time to look for an apartment so we did it online. I wish we would of never choose this place> Yea it looks nice but the mantience is TERRIBLE and Beth only cares about the money. Our airconditioner leaked leaked leaked and leaked..they would come to fix it but a day or so later it would be leaking again. Our carpet was sooo soaked and wet and pretty much stayed that way for weeks. Thats not the only thing that leaked but also the upstairs tub. They wouldnt even replace the carpet instead they stuck a loud a** machine in the living room (dehumidifier) witch wasnt anything but an annoyince and in the way. They did that several times and still it would always leak. We asked to have the carpet replaced an NO NO NO that wasnt going to happen. You could see mold where the airconditioner was but they said that wasnt mold...i am no expert on mold but i am pretty sure they were just saying that to avoid having to fix it. With all this going on Beth still wanted the whole months rent...well i dont think so. I didnt belive living in a pool and having damaged furniture that i had to do that espicially when nothing was really getting done about it. We got eveicted OH DARN lol actually that was the best news i had in a while. Oh and if you enjoy drama Morgan Place is the place to live. Cops out there EVERY day just about. Oh and btw not everyone pays the same rent even if they are renting the same sized apartments she charges everyone diff you could be paying 100 dollars more a month for the same thing your niegbor has.

Frankly, I am surprised by this post and not quite sure about a "leaking" air conditioner since these apartments have central heat and air and not window units. I agree that they are a little lax on maintenance but have never known them to refuse to do anything that was really necessary. Some examples: 1) When my refrigerator started acting up they immediately replaced it with another one. That one had a problem as well, so the next time they put in one that was practically new! 2) The former tenant was a heavy smoker and I am allergic to cigarette smoke. Beth worked tirelessly to try to find a solution. She offered to move me to another apartment and brought in a professional duct cleaner to address the issue. Frankly, I have always found them to be responsive to my needs.
As for police being here every day, I have lived here for 6 months and have never seen the police here or had a problem with any of the tenants. However, this is a large complex and one would expect that an occasional issue might crop up. The management is certainly not responsible for the actions of others that bring the police to the property. I feel sure they would evict people that are breaking the law on their property.
When it comes to not paying the rent, that is asking to be evicted. There are proper channels to take if a tenant feels the facility is qualified the legal definition of "slum lord." I can assure you that is not the case with this facility. It sounds as if the tenant did not agree with the actions Beth was taking and used this as an excuse to try to with hold the rent. Not paying the rent is definitely grounds for eviction and means it goes against your credit and there is a record of eviction on you at the court house. This can have far-reaching results when one tries to rent or buy another home or even tries to get credit for something else. Employers now run background and credit checks and it could even prevent a person from getting a job.
As for the amount of rent one pays, when you move into a home you AGREE to pay a certain amount. Obviously, that amount was okay when you moved in. Perhaps the reason some people may (and I point out MAY) be paying less rent is because they are receiving aid from the government. Again, this is not unusual.
Any place is what you make of it. You can work with the owners and maintenance people in a positive way to bring about positive results. Or you can rant and rave and find yourself blue in the face and realize belatedly that you accomplished nothing except to upset yourself.
I would encourage people to come out and view the property themselves. The apartments are spacious and have the feel of living in a house - not an apartment. The complex is run by the family that owns it, so you don't have the cold, clinical approach that you find with a property that uses a management company. The carpet in the apartments could stand to be replaced, but that is often the case in apartments. Overall, this is an excellent buy for the money and I really enjoy living here.
