I have lived in the Charlotte, Lake Norman area for a little over four years and i'm currently looking for a new place to live. For the reviews I've read for Locke Mill Plaza it sounds like there are problems. You can always read and tell the truth from the B.S., and to whatever varying degree there are problems. Whether its tenants, security, managment, maintenance, budget or whatever. As much as i would love to find a really cool place like a managed loft or mill for $500 to $650 a month in a historic downtown location these days it just ain't right. There will always be problems. The owner or management group need to raise the rent, thicken the walls, strenghthen the security or police presence, put money into the property instead of trying to collect what profit they can. It turn, that would attract a better clientel who would pay the higher rent and demand a better service. They could afford to offer better management, maintenance, security and in turn they could demand a better tenant. I lived in downtown miami across the street from the old heat arena. They had well lit parking, a high fence/wall and armed guards at the gate. The rent was a little high but you felt more secure in that square block than you did in the last twenty to get to it. I'm single and would love to find a small apartment in a place like Locke Mill but when i'm at home i don't want to hear or smell anything and don't want to put up with anyones b.s. but my own. P.S.
