I have lived at One Norman Square for over 2 years and it has continually gone down hill. They've changed Property Managers 3 times since I moved in. Vehicles have been stolen and broken into on several occasions just since last October and things stolen off of decks, children, pets and adults almost getting hit by speeding cars, (I talked to the Cornelius PD and they said they can NOT give a speeding ticket unless they are driving above 35mph since One Norman refuses to post speed limit signs, the city wide speed limit for Cornelius is 35) Even the office was broken in to on 7/20/08. After many conversations with the slack staff regarding parking lot safety, community safety and the well being of our belongings, many residents have requested more lighting in the parking lots and around the community, possibly security camera's or onsite REAL security instead of just having the title. NOTHING has been done, however conveniently after the office was broken in to ADT Security alarm was installed at the office. The grass is brown and spotty all over the neighborhood except of course ONLY at the front office. If people drive past the office after hours it's a totally different story. There are people who party at the pool all hours of the night drinking, letting their dogs swim in the pool, being loud after 10pm, etc. The lack of management is an understatement. It simply does not exist. If you have a problem w/the mgmt, I've been told you could talk to the General Manager, but she doesn't seem to take an interest in anyone's complaints as long as the rent's paid everything's fine. The filter's don't get changed like they're supposed to, every tennant I've talked to (all in different buildings than mine) have spiders, centipedes, earwigs, etc. The comment made to us about why we have bugs is because "you live on the water", just today I talked to another tennant who happened to have the same complaint about the bugs in her apartment and she lives in the apartment at the back of the complex facing the woods no where near the water. So many neighbors have come and gone in the past two years, yes some annoying but most, honest, hard working people who just want what they pay for each month to be worth their while. Between the absence of management, staff changes, the security of residents and their belongings, the property landscaping continually degrading, and then the nerve to raise rent is enough to make anyone want to move and not renew, which is exactly what I'm in the process of. Whoever you are out there looking for an apartment, don't let the charm of the ladies up front and the beautiful grass and flowers around the office set you up for a downfall like so many of us stuck in our leases now. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE, it could be your vehicle getting stolen, broken into, keyed, almost get hit walking around the community, child/pet hit by a speeding car, house over loaded w/bugs. They say the "exterminator" visits every Wednesday, why would he be here every week' REAL exterminators only service most residences once or twice a year, so what are they spraying here that it has to be done every week' Why do 9 out of 10 apt's still have bugs' Good luck to you in finding an apt elsewhere. I plan to.

I agree I did not have a pleasant experience at One Norman Square either. To those of you who had a nicer unit then good for you, but I wasn't that lucky. My unit had mole growing on the windows, my front door was stuck you had to kick it to get in the door, the heating unit blew out cold air, and to top it all off my stove caught fire and I had to call the fire department. The best part was one of the firemen told my husband that he lived here ten years ago and had that same stove. So, don't get angry when things are posted that you don't like or want to hear. This is America and we all have freedom of speech.
