Great place except appliances

This is a quiet beautiful community of mostly families and graduate students. It is close to Duke and quite accessible to UNC as well. The largest units are one-story attached cottages with no walls shared with neighbors (just garage) so it's very private. They are also flat roll-ins, so they are good for wheelchairs. The floor layout and details are comfortable and attractive. The one constant irritation was the poor quality and performance of the appliances. The refrigerator made moldy-tasting ice and the dishwasher constantly left the dishes with dried-on bits of food. The maintenance crew of young men made all kinds of excuses and came back multiple times but never fixed the problems. They admitted the appliances were inferior and gave us advice for how to live with the problems. We were there for the short-term and stopped complaining after a while and just made our own ice and rewashed the dishes by hand. If the appliances worked, I could imagine living there for years, it's such a nice environment. I would recommend this community if you don't mind being very aggressive and demanding with the maintenance people. The folks in the main office are just sales and won't push the guys hard enough for customer satisfaction.
