Last Fall I moved to Durham after taking a new job at Duke University. I decided to rent for a year till I figured out the best area in which to buy a home. Since I already had friends here, I checked in with them and got some recommendations on places to stay, since obviously there are "good" areas of Durham, and then "not so great" areas in Durham. I decided that I didn't want to go with a loft-style apartment like they have downtown, so I looked at three places off 15/501 and Alexan Place got my vote. It's convenient to both 15/501 and I-40, the amenities are great, the apartments are larger than what I expected. The staff was great when I first moved in, and they haven't changed since I've been there...they've been helpful, and I haven't had any problems. So what if they're building another apartment community right next door' Coming from a larger city...you realize that some people can make a big deal out of the smallest things, and some people will never be happy with what they have. I like it at Alexan Place, and if asked, I would recommend it over any other community in the area.
