I lived in an Audobon Lake townhome for a year and then moved down the street to the attached Highgate Townhomes (managed by the same company). I don't understand the comments on this site about it being the ghetto. I am a white, female college student and I feel perfectly safe walking around this community at night, even by myself. Especially for Durham, and for the price, it's a very clean, safe community. The community doesn't have a lot of frills, but you get an amazing amount of space for the money, and the maintenance staff has always been wonderful. They came three times in one weekend to keep our air conditioner running until they could get it replaced on Monday. The pool is nice and clean. The gym is small, but if that's important to you there is one in the shopping center within quick walking distance. There is also plenty of parking available, even though we had four cars for a three bedroom apartment.
One caution, there are a couple people in the office who don't know what they're talking about, so make sure you always talk to the property manager about lease terms, but other than that I've been really pleased with this complex.
