You do not want to live here

I've lived here at Beech Lake for two years...my lease expires in June and my roommate and I will both be leaving for greener pastures.

When we first moved in, it was great. Beautiful views, decent price, good location. The AC broke on move-in day but they provided me with a window unit until the AC could be fixed (it was July 4th weekend, so -everything- was understandably closed). The disposal broke a week later and they replaced it with a brand new one the next day.

The warm fuzzies end there. The first year was decent...there was one girl in the office who was fantastic. But then the management changed (we're currently on either the third or fourth set...I don't remember) and it all went downhill.

Small issues: The walkway lights burn out constantly and it takes a week to fix them even if you tell them about it repeatedly. There are wasps on our porch/in our storage room rendering them completely unusable and the management's response was "Well, everyone has wasps..." Our patio door came away from the molding and so wasps were getting into our apartment...took them a week and two reminders to fix it. Not to mention that every time the repair guy came to "look" at it he implied that it was somehow our fault that there were wasps IN our apartment.

Big issues: Our security chain broke (!) six months ago and they've never replaced it. When I signed the lease two years ago, we were promised a free carpet cleaning if we renewed our lease the next year. We did, but at that point had pets. I asked if we could wait until the pets left (I was watching them for a friend) to get the carpet cleaned and was told that was fine. The pets left, and I asked if we could get our carpet cleaned. They said they were no longer doing that program. I said they owed me a carpet cleaning, program or not. We've been trying to get the carpet cleaned for 10 months now, to no avail. Every time I ask about it (at least once a month) there's some different response. Now they're saying that since we're moving out soon they'll just clean the carpet then and not charge us if it's dirty. But that's only part of the issue. The big part of the issue is that they LIED and are not upholding part of the agreement. I don't care if they clean the carpet two days in a row...they're going to clean it before I move out.

There are also bugs everywhere, the windows leak cold air in the winter and hot air in the summer, the bathrooms and kitchens are dirty no matter how much you clean them, the soundproofing is awful, we can smell everything our neighbors cook for dinner (curry and cigarettes). The gates work -maybe- two days a month. Maybe.

Don't be fooled by the pretty trees and the tranquility...you do not want to live here.
