Overall, this is a good place to live.

PROS: The staff are very friendly and helpful, and amazingly, always remember your name. They have been very responsive to the few service requests I have had. I use the fitness center often, and it is quite basic, but meets my needs and beats running outside in the heat. There is a ceiling fan and a TV, which makes it pleasant. The pool is typically clean and there are always a few people laying out, so it is a nice atmosphere. They have fixed the basketball rims recently. The apartment itself (I have a 1 bedroom with sunroom) is great. I got the washer and dryer in the unit, which is quite convenient. I have had wonderful neaighbors and no trouble with noise. The appliances are new and work well. It is a very clean place. parking is never an issue, which is nice. It is convenient to major highways (54, 40) - and in a good area of Durham (in my opinion). Shopping etc. are all nearby - especially southpoint. It is about 15 minutes from the airport.

CONS: Tennis courts are in bad shape, and hot tub is always being fixed (although staff said these things are on the mend, so may be fixed soon). The security gate breaks all the time as well, although I didn't choose to live here because it is gated. my philosophy is, people are going to get in if they want to, unless you live somewhere where there is a 24-hour security officer. Apaprently, there was a night where 6 cars got broken into. This surprised me, because it feels like a safe area. I honestly would not judge the place based on that, but I guess it is good to know. As long as you don't keep things visible in your car, you shouldn't have a problem - a good rule no matter where you live.

I have no regrets about living here. I am moving to Massachusetts, but would live ehre again in a heartbeat. Copper Mill met all of my needs.
