Save Yourself the Headache - Stay Away!!!!

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.
I've been here almost a year and can't get out fast enough - I'm leaving at the end of my lease.
The problem with Copper Mill is their maintenance and management.
I've had to have maintenance come out more times than I can count in the past year, but I'll focus on the last six months for the sake of this review.
In January my microwave completely died.
I submitted a service request to have someone come look at it.
They did within about two days and left me a note saying that they would replace it.
Days went by without hearing anything else from them.
Then my refrigerator stopped cooling.
I submitted a request and didn't hear anything for two days, when I called them.
They said that they lost my service request.
I asked them where my microwave was and they said I would have a new one shortly and apologized for the delay.
I finally got my microwave a week and a half after the old one died.
It was clearly a used one from another apartment because part of the front is cracked.
They didn't bother checking to make sure that every aspect worked and I quickly found out that the light over the stove did not work.
I had to call them back out to replace the light.
As for the fridge, someone came out and thawed out the coil that had frozen in the freezer and the fridge worked well...
...until about two weeks ago, that is.
Again, the fridge stopped cooling.
I submit a service request.
When I come home from work that day (the friday before the Memorial Day weekend), my fridge still was not working, all of my perishable food had gone bad, and I had not received a phone call or anything else explaining why this problem had not been repaired.
I called the office and the woman tells me that someone is on the way that very minute with a NEW refrigerator.
I asked if she would like for us to start cleaning it out to make things go faster for the maintenance people (since it was after hours), and she said that would be very helpful.
Half an hour later, a guy shows up without a fridge.
He thaws the coil again and tells me it would last the weekend and that I would have a new refrigerator on Monday.
On Monday, he shows up again without a fridge.
The guy says "Actually, we don't HAVE any refrigerators right now." He says that it seems to be working properly and that he'll come back near the end of the week to make sure that everything is still working well.
The fridge temperature can go up to a setting of 9, and we generally keep ours at a 5.
The maintenance guy cautions us against turning it up too high (like 5 should be too high?) and turns the fridge down to 3.
A few hours later, I go to make dinner and the hamburger that I just bought in bulk from Sams over the weekend is rotten, as is my milk.
I talk to the office people Tuesday and they bring a "new" (new = dirty, used) refrigerator within the hour.
I realize later in the week that the ice maker doesn't work.
Everything that they do is just really shoddy and they can not seem to get anything right the first time.
On top of all this, earlier in the spring they scheduled smoke detector inspections as well as "inspections of the overall condition of the apartment".
We were given a 3-day period during which our inspections would take place.
I assumed that they were done.
A month later we receive a notice saying that they were unable to finish inspections as scheduled and would do our building on a certain day.
I happened to be home sick that day and they never showed up.
Clearly safety is not a priority at Copper Mill!
Finally, the most recent problem that has occurred during the last week: We gave our 60-day notice at the end of April.
Once we move out, Copper Mill will replace our cabinets, bring in new appliances and charge a few hundred dollars more per month for our apartment.
I got a random call from one of the office people last week letting me know that the cabinet people were there to measure the cabinets and they just realized that they don't have a copy of our key (they did at some point, so it has been lost).
I told her I would bring a copy of the key by later in the day.
After I got off the phone, I started thinking about this a little more...how did they realize they didn't have a key? They tried to go in my apartment without letting me know they would be entering, that's how.
The next day (5/28) I came home to a letter on my door dated 5/22 letting me know that my apartment would be entered on 5/27 so that my cabinets could be measured.
I spoke to someone in the office about this, and she blamed the maintenance people for not distributing the letters like they are supposed to.
It's just mind-boggling.
I know this was a lengthy review, but it's worth it if it saves you the hassle of dealing with these people.
They do not take responsibility for their many, epic failures.
Just stay away - it's not worth all of the hassle in dealing with their management.
