If you really, really, REALLY need a place to stay, you're in the right place.

I never lived here, but I did work here. My first 4 days on the job, there were about 3 break-ins. People's cars get broken into, and managment tried to place single women and mothers as close to the front of the property as possible so their chances of getting mugged will lessen. At the same time, you've got to realize: there's a little over 900 units in this apartment community. So you know there's at least 1000-1500 (modest numbers) people in one concentrated area. Crime is almost expected to happen.
The apartments are pretty small in my opinion, at least the one bedrooms are. Some buldings have pest problems, some don't. It's on the busline and near a nice shopping area, the location is pretty ideal.
I'll sum it up like this:
If you're a student with nothing flashy to show (like a nice car, and nice electronics) you should be able to deal. If you are in desparate need of a place, then you'll definitely be able to deal. But if you have options and few more dollars on you, I suggest you run away AS FAR AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN.
Sorry, Duke Manor. Just had to warn the out-of-state folks. Can't let them be innocent bystanders.
You've been warned...
