If you're a student, forget about it.

Duke Villa started out pretty nice. The staff was responsive to my concerns and problems in the apartment and the neighbors in my building at least were families. Then, a few months after signing my lease, things went unfixed in the apartment and the staff seemed more and more annoyed each time I'd report a problem. The neighbors started to come and go, more and more frequently as one-bedroom apartments filled with six to eight men at a time. I started feeling less and less safe, especially after dark. Parking was a big issue, with people taking up two spaces to save them for others and having very minimal parking for the three or four cars that were turning up per apartment. My rent the first year was affordable, but went up astronomically for the space and type of community I lived in. Music would blast from 3pm everyday well into the early morning. Every footstep from apartments above was able to be heard, loudly. The office said to direct after hour complaints to the "security guard" who was never to be found. Oh, and laundry was a nightmare. Six washers and 12 dryers for that many people is just absurd. And my clothes always ended up with stains and markings that weren't present before I put them in the washer. And don't even think about doing laundry at night - it's one of the shadiest places to be in Durham after dark.
This place is really cheap, but I think you will still be overcharged for what you are getting. I really do not recommend that anyone live here, especially not students and especially not single people.
