I took over a lease on a 1-bed/bath unit here in June 2008. The building is located in a small cul-de-sac just off Rt 15/501, I-85, and the 147 freeway.

I was initially concerned about the neighborhood, but after the first week or so I realized I could probably leave the door open and not have to worry about it.

The apartment was moderately clean. Some spots on the carpet and scuffs on the walls from the prior tenant (no re-paint/carpet because it was a lease transfer). The apartment is small (although the bedroom is spacious). Lots of closet space throughout the apartment. The building is aging but is holding up well and seems sturdy enough.

This place is not affected by the roach infestations that seem to plague this area. Apart from the deer that graze right next to the parking lot, I haven't seen any critters lurking (animal or otherwise).

Granted, it's not luxurious by any means, but I haven't seen a better cost/review combination. I don't know how the rates per square foot compare with other places, but if you're looking for something small and cost-efficient, this is a good place to start.
