Very happy here

I have been living in this apartment complex for a little more than a year, and I've been very satisfied with my experience. My apartment overlooks the wetlands, so the view is incredible...I get to watch all kinds of creatures down below, such as deer, beavers, turtles, ducks, geese, herons, and hawks. Also, the birdfeeders on my balcony draw numerous mourning doves and hummingbirds, which provide endless entertainment for my cat.
My apartment is very quiet...at night, all I hear are the crickets and frogs down in the wetlands. Although the apartment community is close to the highway, I can rarely ever hear the traffic noise. I almost never hear my neighbors.
The apartment grounds are nicely landscaped and well-kept. I have a third-story apartment and have never had any problems with bugs. Maintenance has always been prompt and friendly. The office staff are also very friendly and helpful.
Despite the often non-working gates, I've always felt safe. Parking, at least on the Beaver Dam Run side, seems more than ample.
This apartment complex offers a number of amenities that are rare in other communities, such as free pet-sitting and an indoor pool. Given the number of amenities and the size of my apartment, I think the rental price is very reasonable. Having been exposed to rental fees in other large cities, I've learned that apartments such as this one can run for two to three times (!) what I'm paying currently, so it's important to recognize the great cost of living we have here in the Triangle.
The location is good, in the sense that it's centrally located between Raleigh, Cary, Durham, and Chapel Hill. However, one of the few drawbacks of the apartment complex deals with its location...whereas there is a lot of hustle and bustle in RTP during the workweek, the area becomes pretty "dead" and lonesome during nights and weekends, so there are few options for dining, shopping, or nightlife in the immediate vicinity. Also, Miami Blvd. is not an ideal street for a leisurely walk, so you pretty much have to get in your car and drive to a greenway to do that. Nevertheless, the Brier Creek shopping area and Southpoint Mall are each about ten minutes away, and if you work in RTP, you will have a very short commute.
I've read a number of very scathing reviews on this website and although I realize everyone's experience will be different, some people have been overly harsh in their criticism. For instance, I believe maintenance do their job on a daily basis in cleaning the fitness center and mailbox areas, but I think it's unrealistic to expect them to spend their time constantly picking up after lazy and inconsiderate residents who drip buckets of sweat all over the exercise equipment or who throw their junk mail on the ground rather than carry it to the garbage can. Also, they are constantly having to fix the gates because ignorant residents keep running into them!
Overall, I'm very pleased with this apartment complex and would recommend it to anyone moving to the area.
