Don't believe office staff

Strange experience with all office staff. They did not answer any question honestly. Faxed me a sample lease, which turned out to be different from the one they gave me to sign when I arrived from out-of-state. At my insistence, they assured me that no one would enter my apartment without advising me first, and that's not how it played out. Lied about the timing of converting from a lease to a month-to-month rental. (Declined to send me the paperwork for said conversion so I could read it myself before the last day to advise of lease termination.)
The apartment itself was clean and in good shape, and the grounds are maintained nicely. Just read and understand *everything* -- even hire a lawyer to review all paperwork, if necessary. I read everything, and then asked to have some things explained by office staff. They advised me incorrectly about many things, but the written lease is binding. Office staff can and will say whatever they think will satisfy you (regardless of lease, which itself states that anything said by office staff is not binding).
