For the 3 years I have lived here, I havenever had a problem. I have never heard gunshots, nor have I heard of any apartment break ins. I actually contacted Durham PD on this, and their report showed 2 attempted apartment break in within the past 3 years. Car break ins, well.. there were a few of those and accordingt o Durham PD again,it was alwasy the expensive stereo and speakers to match. I don't think management can control this. Its like crime in any other city. As for the bug problem, Durham is built on marsh. I called the office and was recommended a to spray a bleach & water solution on the outside of the doorways and it helped. I've had the same guy perform pest control for as long as I have lived here. Its nice knowing what to expect and from who you'll get it. Many of my friends in this area complain that they don'tknow who'll be helping them in their complex office on any given day. its nice to know the staff has been solid. The office tries their best and speaks to you honestly. I recommend Emerald Forest. And consideringt he price you pay for the size apartment and location, it really can't be beat.
