I currently live in Highgate Townhomes, where I have been for six months. The townhomes are really nice, our floorplan has a huge master bedroom and huge walk in closets. The community is very safe, especially considering the price and the fact that it is in Durham. You get a whole lot of space for the money, and the grounds around the building are nice. They are not fancy by any means, but they are clean and well-kept. Community has a nice pool (shared with Audobon Lake). The gym is tiny, but there is a gym in the shopping center next door. Apartments are very close to I-40, but I never hear them from inside the apartment. If you're looking for frills or luxury, this isn't the place, but it's a great, clean, large apartment for a very reasonable price. Parking isn't an issue at all.
One word of warning, we've had some issues with some of the office staff not being aware of lease restrictions and quoting us incorrect information. Talk to the property manager if it is important.
