Take the good with the bad

The Lodge at Southpoint is a decent place to live. There are both good points and bad points about the complex. First, the good:
1. All new, really clean and modern apartments
2. Nicely-appointed clubhouse with fitness center, billiards room, theater, and lounge area
3. Convenient to Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, RTP, and the RDU Airport
4. Full-size washer and dryer in every apartment
5. Maintenance is always fairly prompt, generally within a day or two of a call.
--------------------------------------------
Now, the bad:
1. It is situated right across from the Streets at Southpoint and the site of the future Target store. It is extremely difficult to drive outside the apartment during the month of December, or on most weekend afternoons and evenings in the winter. Also, this makes for an extremely noisy environment. Every now and then, some of the mallgoers park and walk around the grounds.
2. It is not recommended to walk across the grass unlike you like the sight and smell of dog droppings on your shoe. Very few people actually follow the apartment rules and clean up after their pets, making for a hidden, but always-present annoyance.
3. I had some disgusting neighbors across the way. They would leave their garbage out for days at a time, often with "garbage water" oozing down the stairs and hallways. The management eventually spoke to them after months of complaining.
4. Nice pool, but no enforcement of pool rules. Often, small children in diapers are allowed to play in the pool. On two occasions last summer, dirty diapers were left on the pool lounge chairs.
5. Very expensive. These apartments are among the most expensive in Chapel Hill and Durham. While the apartment offers many amenities, they don't add up to the price of rent.
------------------------------------------
Ov this is a decent place to live for anyone in the RTP area, despite the downfalls. I would probably renew my lease if I weren't moving out of state.
