Basement apartments will always leak and there will be nothing done about it. The lease you sign says that they are not responsible for any damage, including mold!, from the foundation leaks. I was asked to "put a fan" over the soaking carpet and let it dry. Needless to say the problem came back and now it is our fault and our problem. We have to wear shoes in our own house to walk through the puddles. The molding in the back side of the apartment is rotten and the light in the extra bedroom flickers. Terrible place to live!

I had the exact same problem with my basement apartment when I lived there. They always came with a big fan to put under the carpet and they just sprayed stuff on the mold. The real kicker is once we got out of our lease they charged us for the damages that were done because of the mold. Now ain't that some ----!!!!!!
