The townhouses aren't that bad
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 9/24/2009
Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
I lived in one of the townhouses at Pine Ridge for three years. There are townhouses closer to the street and then a few apartment buildings in the back of the complex. I heard a lot of bad things about the apartments before I moved in so I purposely chose the townhouses.
Parking--There are two spots in front of each townhouse, but they aren't assigned spaces. Logically, you'd think that your neighbors would be respectful of that, but most of them parked wherever they could fit in and their guests had no problems parking in your spot so from time to time you had to walk a little to your house. It wasn't a big deal though.
Noise--Unlike the apartments there, I never had a problem with noise. I went through about six neighbors on one side of me and the same couple on the other side the entire 3 years. I never heard a peep except during the Superbowl, NBA Finals and occasionally when they decided to have sex. Unfortunately for the wife, it never seemed to last more than five or ten minutes. Even during that time, it was muffled and it never woke me up. There is a clubhouse where people had parties quite often. I imagine the people near that complained of noise.
Grounds--The grounds were always clean and manicured. There is a huge dumpster in the center of the complex and for the most part everyone was good about putting their trash INSIDE the compactor.
Safety--I'm from Washington, DC so I'm very paranoid when it comes to safety. I never felt unsafe here. I think there were a few car burglaries over the three years but I think it was maybe one or two and it was the usual where someone left their Ipod in plain view inside the car. They do a criminal background check on everyone, at least thats what the application said.
Construction--I thought that everything was nice. The wallpaper was ugly in the kitchen and bathroom. I'm not really the kind of guy to even care about that kind of thing, but even I had a "WTF" moment when I first saw the circus colors in the half bath near the living room. Insulation was "okay" but the a/c system needs work. The central air was nice downstairs but upstairs was like a sauna. It was the same in the winter. The ceiling fans helped somewhat, but not too much. I'm the kind to keep my a/c on nonstop throughout the summer so my typical electric bill was about 150 in the summer.
Maintenance--I only had to call them for the A/C. That was maybe three times during my last year there. It kept dying on me in the summer. Other than that, I never had a problem. They would come in from time to time to change the air filters but that was it.
Staff--They were friendly when I moved in and pretty friendly throughout the years. They weren't my best friends or anything, but I never felt any issues with them. The only thing that concerned me a little was the package delivery process. They kept large packages in a room in the main office. Whenever you went in they just sent you in the room by yourself and didn't verify that you actually had the right package. I remember going in to pick up CD's from BMG once and there was a box from Dell that was probably a laptop or something. Of course I didn't take it, but still...you'd think something like that would be better guarded.
Overall--I only moved from there because I moved out of state. The townhouses are really nice and the place is quiet...at least where I was.
