i lived here from sept 2006 to march 2007. I'm leaving because i'm moving to california (not because I don't like the apartments). They are a little more expensive than most places in the area, but they are very nice, and you don't have to worry about most things you'd have to worry about at other places (ie apt getting broken into, noise all the time, unkempt grounds).
I think that the management has changed since all the bad reviews in 2005. I've had two things wrong in my apt the past 6 months one of which was that the hot water heater was turning off too early in the morning and when i took my morning shower, it woudl be cold halfway through it. This was fixed within an hour of i reported it. The second problem was totally my fault. I left a window open, and some kid climbed in (i live on the ground floor) and locked my second deadbolt from the inside then climbed out. Nothing was stolen or missing ( i swear), just really annoying and left me very confused (since i couldnt' unlock my door). This happened around 10:15 one friday night, so i called up the office (which was closed) left a message on the machine and the maintenece guy was there within 15 minutes.
I live at the front of the apt complex.. so there is definitely more parking there than in the back.
The office staff is very friendly and have always been more than helpful with accepting packages and mail for me.
check this place out, it's well worth the extra money for the rents.
if you have any questions you can email me at jenloe@alumni.unc.edu . i swear i'm not part of the management, and I wish i wasn't leaving but my job's changing so i have to move.
