Do not be deceived by the good rent and cute apartment.

I picked Springfield out of all the other University Drive apartment complexes because of the low rent (with 12 month lease) and the layout of the apartment. Soon later, I noticed a plethora of problems ranging from slanted counters, deceptive management (-----rententive with details), unannounced 7-8 AM lawn-mowing, -----'s lease break fee, pothole obstacle course through the parking, non-functioning laundry room that never gets fixed despite numerous complaints, bugs and dirt outside apartment, bad balcony & trash policy, cold hottub, trashy fitness center, and Darlene (you'll know what I'm talking about once you go there).

Just to demonstrate what the management is like: I was out of the state once and called to ask for rent collection methods. The only option was by mail. Since I was in California and rent was due in 2 days, I asked them if I could send them a confirmation number of my mail instead of fedex-ing overnight. The management refused and I ended up paying $22 for the fedex (b/c why should I pay THEM the $25 dollars late fee). Another example of the rent issue was that they do not send reminders, etc. for the rent collection. On the 8th or 9th day they will rubberband a notice on your door saying your rent was late past the 6th and that I will have to pay the late fee, etc, following with a court filing fee if I go beyond the 10th. So, I suggest the management to give rent reminders like postcards in the mailbox so people pay on time instead of everyone missing the date (4 out of 6 of my neighbors had the rubberband note on their doors). If not that, I told them that they should at least put the rubberband notice out on the 5th so people have a day to pay. But no, the money-hungry managment actually said, "Sorry, we don't do that," and shot down my suggestion in a second.
