I have lived in Waterford Village for way too long - I renewed my lease based on my first year being somewhat pleasant. THEN, the tenants from hell moved in. I quickly realized that they weren't necesssrily "trying" to be loud, but the flimsy construction of these buildings make it impossible to do anything quietly. The noise levels here are OFF THE CHARTS!! If you plan to enjoy any time in your apartment at all, and you live under someone else - INVEST IN EAR PLUGS!!
Also, the bug and ant problem is unbelievable! There are ant infestations so bad that it actually looks like you have black speckled carpet! And the management does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! They act surprised to hear that there is an ant problem when you call to complain and then MAYBE they'll send out someone to spray the exterior of the building.
They tried to do a good thing recently by offering a trash front-door pickup service, however, the overflowing trash next to the dumpster area is STILL sickening. Valet Waste was supposed to solve the problem of overrun dumpsters, but I guess they have they're problems with Waterford Village too. Also, I think the trash guys are currently on strike or something as the dumpsters have been pulled out into the parking lot - restricting the flow of traffic and posing a health risk.
This is by far the WORST APARTMENT COMMUNITY I've ever lived in. The 15% recommendation rating is too high! I can't WAIT to get out of here! Do yourself a favor, RUN MAN! There are far nicer apartment communities in the same area for around the same price.

Well, you are a very mad and angry person. That is not a reason to put false information on this board. Apparently you need a hug. I am not the person to give you this hug, but I'm sure someone will if you ask them. There are homeless people at the intersection of HWY54 and HWY55, maybe they will give you a hug. Now, on with the correct information.
I have lived here for 3 years and NEVER had a noise issue. The walls are not thin. They are normal thickness. It is easy to sleep through a thunderstorm. DO you hear other people, uhhh, yes. It is an apartment complex. But its one of the most quiet places I've lived in.
Bugs. Well, genius, we do live next to woods. But, if you cleaned you apartment once in a while, you would not have a bug problem. My apartment is clean, on the first floor, and I have no bugs. WOW!
Trash pickup. ITS GREAT. Nothing sickening here. You are weird.
Good luck trying to find you hug and feel better.

First of all wheter you live near the woods or not does not warrant bugs to be infested in your house!!! when I lived in waterford last year I had a problem with bugs....the day before I was set to get my keys the maintenance man let me in to see my actual apartment and I saw they had dead bugs in the apartment BEFORE I EVEN MOVED IN!!!! I had them to put my name on the list to spray just in case even though I bombed the apartment prior to moving in!! AND THE EXTERMINATOR SAID HIS SELF THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM IN THE WHOLE BUILDING AND IT WOULD CONTINUE UNTIL THEY FOUND THE SOURCE!!! They have new species of bugs crawling and flying around there!!!Valet tradh service is a joke!!! THE WALLS ARE INCREDIBLY THIN...I'm a college student so I have been in a few apartment buildings and THAT IS NOT NORMAL thickness of a wall compared to any building i've been in!!! Waterford is straight trash...and Management.....A JOKE...enough said!!!

I love the first response. I don't need nor want a hug, just a decent place to live and Waterford doesn't deliver. What they do deliver however is poor construction, littered grounds, lots of noise and bugs (regardless of how clean your apt is), along with a view of broken blinds and peeling exterior paint as you drive through the community. There are lots of nicer apartment communities in the same area, so it is wiser to spend your money there than at Waterford Village. It's no coincidence that Waterford has the LOWEST rating of any apartment community in Durham. Take your money and run!
